Description:One of two volumes known as the "Ridge" manuscripts. The inscription on the flyleaf of C612 reads: To Mr Alexander MacDonald from A. McLean Sinclair Feb. 11th 1891. This Alexander was the grandson of Alexander MacDonald ("Alasdair Ruaidh") who was the progenitor of the Ridge family of MacDonalds.

A Complete Work of Robert Murdoch

Description:Robert Murdoch, a native of Pictou County, moved to Antigonish in the spring of 1857 to work on The Casket. After a three-month term, he returned to Pictou but not before he met his future bride, Ann, daughter of Angus and Abigail Kell of Antigonish. One year later, the couple were secretly wed. Murdoch continued in the publishing business in Pictou County for many years.;
